2011 Youth Art Classes
Year-round art classes for children and adults are offered in the spacious Banister Studio and on the outdoor patio spring through fall. Members of the Kings Art Center receive discounts on class fees and priority registration for the popular Children’s Summer Art Program. Supplies are provided unless otherwise noted.

Amazing Sea Animals I & II
The sea is full of incredible animals from sea urchins to seahorses and more. These creatures will be the inspiration for the paintings and drawings in this class exploring various techniques and media.

Clay Creatures
Create your own unique creatures from self-hardening clay. Mush, squish, pound and paint your creation in clay. It’s fun and messy.

Explore a different color each day in this creative mixed media class.

Bookmaking – Accordion Journal
Design, construct and bind a handmade accordion book with customized interior pages. Cover and back of book will be custom decorated using embellishments and paint.

Mural Making
Using a grid system, students will learn to draw a large image by breaking it into sections and reconstructing the whole image.

Trash to Treasures I & II Learn fun and creative ways to repurpose and recycle everyday objects into works of art. Students are encouraged to bring objects to incorporate into projects.

Clay Vessels
Students will use self-hardening clay to form containers using pinching, coiling and other techniques then paint and decorate the vessels created.

Early Start with Art is a processed based art exploration series
just for little ones ages 3 – 4.
Each week your budding artist will experiment with a different theme through creative exploration. Children will explore shapes, colors, textures and more as a fun new theme is introduced each week. Themes may include: Bugs, Zoo Days, Under the Sea, Storybooks and more.
The emphasis of Early Start with Art is the process of using art materials and techniques rather than an end product. The finished product may not look like art, but be assured the whole creativity and discovery process is a valuable learning process.
Parent participation is optional.
Themes will include nature, storybooks & art, shapes, colors and more fun themes to engage your child. $22.50/$25.00 per week

Evening of the Arts 2011
At the end of the summer, we like to celebrate the wonderful work created in our Summer Art Program with the annual Evening of the Art Event. Please plan to join us on Saturday, August 6th from 6:00pm – 8:00pm to recognize our young artists. Youth performers and groups interested in performing at the Evening of the Arts are invited to contact the Kings Art Center for more information.
